Police on Monday said that a year-old girl who went missing after leaving her home in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture, on June 24, has turned up at a police station in Koriyama. According to police, Mana Sato entered the police station at around 2 p. Monday and was taken into protective custody.
Police said she was not injured in any way. No details have been released as to where the girl was for the past four weeks. Sato was last seen by her mother as she left for school. A short time later, her mother received a call from the school saying that her daughter had not shown up, Fuji TV reported.
Police said it appeared that Sato had gone to, or was taken to Tokyo, after the location of her cell phone was tracked to Tokyo between 1 p. The phone was found later that day in a toilet bowl in a bookstore near Tokyo Station.
According to police, Mana Saito entered the police station at around 2 p. Is there some funny business going on at home? Sounds like a runaway. Probably had someone she knew via social media who was willing to take her away to Tokyo and eventually she realized the life was undesirable and not what she dreamed of. In any case, she's safe, and unharmed. The reasons for what she did can be dealt with in the family.
If it were kidnapping we would have heard more by now. Chances are that she is a victim of child abuse. I think her privacy is important now that she was found. Anyway she was safe. It's good news. I'll wait and see the cause of her disappearance in later news.
